What is your approach?

I'll just observe them from a distance I will approach them and plainly tell them to vacate. I will tell them a joke about how I'll probably get in trouble for letting them in a restricted area, and would guide them away from the restricted area with casual conversation. The customer is King, I'll proceed with checking something more important.

What is your next move?

I'll forcefully tell them to shut up, and focus on their jobs. They should behave like professionals. War is inevitable, I will watch them from a distance and take my notes. I'll positively engage them, and remind them we shall sort everything out when our customers are no longer hungry I'm not sure.

5. A waiter has notified you that a customer claims to have received something they have not ordered for. The customer did not understand the menu (he/she is in the wrong), but is insisting that we made a mistake
What is your next move?

I will go to the table, and explain how they misunderstood the menu, and that we can make them another meal but it will be charged. The customer is King. I will first instruct the head waiter to reassure the customer by offering to change the meal to what they desire, and then I will investigate ways of making that particular part of the menu clearer to understand. They ordered it, they have to pay for it. I am not sure.

Which of these describe your next move?

I would deny any wrongdoing on our part. I would first find out the table number from the POS. Based on the items on the virtual table, I would try to infer which item is the issue. I would go to the table and apologize and assure the client that we will do better next time. I would get as much information from the waiter about the issue, being mindful of the clients time and the waiters other tables. I would then determine whether to offer the client another meal to compensate or a different item such as a dessert as complimentary, or both! ii, iii, iv

8. We did not receive beef tenderloin for the last 2 days, there is a general shortage in the market. A group of clients want to order steaks.
What's your move?

I would tell the client that we didn't manage to get beef tenderloin today and apologize for it. I would send a someone else to tell the client that we failed to get tenderloin. I would brief the entire service team, before the shift starts, that beef tenderloin is out of stock today and will emphasize that they should upsell other products. I must tell the clients that the beef fillet is sold out the moment they ask for it. Nothing, I think that's somebody else's job

9. You've just finished doing a pre-shift check of your station, you notice 3 teammates sitting in the lunch area during peak lunch service, passively chatting and watching YouTube videos.
What's your move?

I would take note and disperse them. Passive chatting doesn't endanger the firm. I would pull one of them aside and remind them of the opportunity they have been given, they have a chance to grow in this company, I need to emphasize that they should take advantage of their potential for greatness. I would respond aggressively; the company has zero tolerance for fraternizing.

10. A client is complaining about a seemingly insignificant issue, and is making it a big deal. The client has asked to see the manager.
What's your move?

I would apologize, and listen to them complain until they get bored. The customer is King. I would listen intently and respond by validating their concern so that they feel heard, this will diffuse the situation. I just have to be patient, but consistently kind in order to diffuse the situation. I would send the head waiter to deal with this, its more important that I focus on taking inventory of the service utensils It depends on what the client is complaining about.

11. We're not busy on a specific day, some of your teammates are in conversation on the restaurant floor.
What's your move?

Since we're not busy, there's no harm in casual conversation. I would join in - let's bond! We can use this chance to brainstorm new products to roll out, and conduct refresher trainings. Everyone should a have an interest in increasing company revenue! Calling them aside one by one and asking how they are doing, and if they are facing any challenges seems like the most productive use of that time.

14. A guest returns to the hotel at 10:30 PM and says they had ordered a sandwich earlier that evening, but no one ever brought it to their room. There's no record of the order at the front desk or in the kitchen logbook, and the restaurant is now closed. The guest is frustrated and insists they were "promised room service."

Apologize for the inconvenience, explain that the kitchen is closed and you have no record of the order, and encourage the guest to place an order earlier next time. Acknowledge their frustration, apologize sincerely, and offer to check with the night staff if anything is still available or push to have one of the Kitchen team return to prep his order. If possible, offer fruit or a small snack from the bar while you investigate. Inform your supervisor in the morning with a written incident note. Apologize to the guest, but explain there is nothing you can do and suggest ordering something from a delivery app like Jumia or Glovo. Tell the guest that if the order isn't in the system, there's no way it was placed. Recommend following up with the day staff tomorrow for further assistance.
